What's your passion? Has anyone ever asked you that question? If you could sit for a moment and really
ponder the question - what's your passion? For many of us, it's our
love for Jesus, it's our love and commitment to our family. For others,
it might be a certain sport, an activity, a job or career path.
Each
of us has a passion - what the dictionary defines as a "powerful
compelling emotion or feeling" - about something or someone. Jesus
clearly demonstrated His passion for us by giving up His very life in
order to offer us the gift of forgiveness and everlasting hope. Now that's passion!
In Youth for Christ, our passion is reaching unsaved kids
with the life-rescuing message of Jesus' love and forgiveness. That's
our mission, that's the guide for our vision, for our ministry planning,
for every conversation we have with a young person. We are un-swerving
in our commitment to sharing with kids Christ's passion for each one of
us on this planet.
In the next few months, our staff will have
the privilege of sharing Jesus with kids in a wide range of settings.
Today, The Edge Halfmoon's Manager Adam Catalano is embarking on a
climbing trip to Tennessee with kids he's met here at our facility. His
chief prayer request is that Christ-centered conversations would take
place on the way to and from their destination as well as during the
trip.
This summer, Student Programs Director Tyler Kempney is
leading four climbing camps here at the Edge. Each week not only
features indoor and outdoor climbing, hiking and other adventures, but
will provide purposed conversations about a living relationship with
Jesus Christ.
Next weekend, we celebrate the death and
resurrection of our Savior. Easter Sunday is just one reminder that the
Son of God is so passionately in love with us that he gave up His life
in order to pay the penalty for our sins. It's our prayer that kids
clearly see that type of passion lived out in us each day and want to
become followers of Jesus, too.
Please pray for Adam and the
climbing trip this weekend. Pray for Tyler and for Steve Prettyman, our
wilderness director, as they prepare for camps and trips this summer.
Pray for our other ministry staff as they meet with kids, build
relationsihps with them and tell them about Christ.
